Earth Day Network
The Global Water Network is a project of Earth Day Network (EDN). The Global Water Network performs a necessary service within the water and sanitation sector by combining information access with project support, dialogue between stakeholders and enhancing awareness of water and sanitation related issues. EDN identified the need for the Global Water Network after the success of our “Water for Life” campaign. While the campaign educated thousands of people and continues to do so, we now wish to more formally engage our network in the processes of increasing water and sanitation access to communities in need as well as developing educational awareness.
EDN is a driving force steering environmental awareness around the world. Through Earth Day Network, activists connect, interact, and have an impact on their communities, and create positive change in local, national, and global policies. EDN's international network reaches over 17,000 organizations in 174 countries, while the domestic program engages 5,000 groups and over 25,000 educators coordinating millions of community development and environmental protection activities throughout the year. Earth Day is the only event celebrated simultaneously around the globe by people of all backgrounds, faiths and nationalities. More than a half billion people participate in our campaigns every year.
EDN was founded on the premise that all people, regardless of race, gender, income, or geography, have a moral right to a healthy, sustainable environment. We believe that an educated, energized population will act to secure a healthy environment for itself and its children. Our mission is to broaden the environmental movement worldwide, and to mobilize it as the most effective vehicle for promoting the development of a healthy, sustainable environment. We pursue our mission through a combination of education, politics, cultural events, and consumer activism.
